Coin Story by Dallin
“Ouch!”
Something hit me as I was struck in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was 1941.
I suddenly fell into a bag with my 175,089,999 siblings. Soon it grew dark as the bag was closed. When it was light again, we were all at the bank. I was put in a roll of dimes with forty-nine of my siblings. They gave us to this evil looking man who withdrew us. It turned out that the man wasn’t that evil. He had a soft wallet that kept us comfortable. He went to a store and gave three of us to the storekeeper for a woven basket. We were put in a cash register.
“I wish I weren’t separated from so much of my family,” I said.
We were in the cash register for a long time. We got bored after a while. I soon met a nickel with whom I became friends. One day, I was taken out of the cash register with my friend the nickel. Before I got too far away, I said good-bye to my siblings.
The cashier gave us to a lady who left the store immediately. She kept muttering things to herself about how rude the cashier was. She gripped us tightly until she finally put the nickel and me in her dirty purse. We coughed trying to get the dust away from us. The ride was so bumpy that I fell out of the purse. I rolled along until I hit a soldier’s foot. He felt me hit him and picked me up. The soldier said that I would be useful on his trip.
I asked myself out loud, “A trip?”
As the soldier arrived at the airport, he boarded a plane. While he flew he had a conversation with the pilot.
“I can’t believe they bombed Pearl Harbor,” the soldier stated. “Now there are hundreds of soldiers headed to Hawaii.”
When the soldier got to Pearl Harbor, he headed to the base. I stayed there for a long time. He put me in various places as the years passed. Finally, he flew back. The only difference was that the soldier and the pilot were talking about going to Salt Lake City, Utah. When we arrived, I saw that it looked different in some ways and the same in some ways.
The soldier said, “I need a Coca-Cola.”
He went to a vending machine and put me in it. I didn’t know if I’d like it or not, but I was excited.
A moment later, I yelled, “This is the most joyful time of my life!”
It felt like a waterslide. Then, I jolted downward. I fell into a dark room with lots of other coins. The landing could’ve been softer. Some of the coins yelled at me for landing on them. These coins were big bullies. They were mean to me until the coins were taken out of the place by a person. I was hiding in the corner, so the person didn’t find me. I met nice coins and mean coins.
One day, the person felt me and saw that I was dusty. I was so dusty, that he thought that I must’ve been there a long time. I was in there for a long time. Actually, I was in there for a year. The man took me to his store. The man who found me traded me out for change for a quarter. The man he gave me to looked exhausted and had a bunch of strange mechanical parts he had purchased. His name was Bob.
Bob took me to a huge room where there were lots of people taking notes and putting things together. They were talking about making the first automatic electronic digital computer. After a few days, I heard them say that it worked. They were glad that they had made an invention for which they could get paid.
The man who owned me kept me in his savings jar (in which there was mostly pennies and dollar bills), where I spent a couple of years. Bob never took coins out of the jar; he just put them in.
One day, Bob had so many coins saved, that there were 10 layers of coins on top of me. He must have been getting something really expensive; he had saved $2,651 held in 20 jars.
Bob went to a shop to buy a car, or more specifically, a Buick Roadmaster Convertible Sedan. He took me to a parking lot, where there were a bunch of cars with prices written on their windshields.
“Wow”, I thought when I saw so many cars.
Bob walked toward the storeowner. “I would like to buy a convertible sedan with tubeless tires,” he said. Pulling the money in a small wagon, he presented it to the storeowner. The storeowner gave Bob the keys to the car he picked out, and Bob gave the other constantly talking coins and me to the storeowner, who was named Bill. As I saw my past owner drive away in his new, shiny red car, I was sad.
“At least I had met another dime just like me who was very nice to me”, I thought.
We soon found out we were cousins. I hoped that we would stay together until we were lost. The coin was named Sally. Speaking of names, I can’t believe I forgot to tell you my name, Fred.
Bill started walking home. He put me in his pocket and went to a store. I was still with my cousin, which made me happy. Bill put me in his comfy wallet, where I stayed for awhile. Bill went to another store and gave me, my cousin, and many other coins to the cashier to get his picture taken by the first Polaroid camera. The new guy who now owned me took me home. He put me in a drawer and forgot me. I was there for so long that I lost track of time.
One day, I woke up to the sound of clanking metal. I soon found out what was happening. They were tearing the house down! My cousin and I got covered in a bunch of junk. I was buried. I waited and slept for over 30 years until there was light. A man picked me up and washed me. He loaned me to Dallin who is telling my story right now.

I added something to my new york post. Do what it says. Remember to keep checking for new posts because I know who has been on here to see it. Not that I care, but if no one looks, then I feel like I am wasting my time on this blog even though I do not post very much.
Here is a story I wrote that some people might like.
My Adventure
Written by

I am a toy soldier named Jake. I was made in a very special toy factory. After I was made, I went to a huge toy store where I could be sold. I was excited and wanted someone to buy me.
I wanted to meet a child who could play, cuddle, and sleep with me, and I wanted a nice home. I wanted to be warm under a child’s covers and keep him happy. The problem was, I couldn’t. I was in a box in the middle of a huge toy store. I tried to get out of the box until someone passed by. I froze so he didn’t see me moving. Once the kid was out of earshot, I tried to jump out of the box. Instead, I fell off the shelf and I was on the ground. I fell onto a pillow that was there for some weird reason. “That was fun,” I said to myself.
When I finally got out of the box, I started to explore. I saw people and I occasionally had to freeze. I met a stuffed panda that had come out of his box, and he was just as excited for someone to buy him as I was. The panda’s name was Fred. We went around the store looking at all the toys. Some came to join us. Together we saw trains, teddy bears, and a lot of people. It was very fun to explore the toy store with new friends who were similar to me. “Fred,” I said. “Let’s go play with those bouncy balls.”
Fred replied, “Why not?” We both dashed over to the bouncy balls and we each found our favorites. I liked the green and blue stripes. Fred had a yellow one. We bounced the bouncy balls until they ran out of their bounce. Instead of bouncing, the balls now fell on the ground. We got our next favorite bouncy balls and played a game where you have to bounce the ball over your head. When we got tired of that, the two of us put our balls back.
I finally realized how tired I was. “Yaaawwn,” suddenly came out of my mouth. I decided to then go to bed. “I am getting a bit tired, I think I will go to bed,” I said.
“I hope I can see you tomorrow,” Fred said tiredly. I found my way back to the box and put myself back in my box. After that, I fell asleep.
The next morning when I woke up, I decided to go back to sleep for a little while more. I dreamed about a child to play with and to stay with. This was the best dream that I ever had. I was glad I had gone back to sleep today.
I got out of my box to meet Fred. We had agreed that we would meet by the train tracks. Fred and me rode the electric trains as they went up, down, and swerved side to side.
The trains got boring to play on, so we strayed to the other side of the store.
Here they sold food and clothing. This part of the store was more crowded. One time, we had to lie on the floor for ten minutes. This happened because one person left us after five minutes just as another person started looking in the isle. We escaped quickly when she turned her back to us.
Another time, we got lost in a huge crowd of people. A store clerk found Fred and placed him on the shelf of toys. Once the group was gone, I noticed Fred was missing. It was getting late anyway, so I hopped back to the shelf.
I decided to stay out of my box so I could feel the fresh air on me. It had been two days since I had come here. I wanted someone to buy me soon. I know that the average toy takes about three weeks to have an owner, but I could not wait that long. I hoped I was one of those lucky toys who had an owner within five days of the day they arrived at the store. My chances were getting smaller, and I really wanted a nice owner.
The next morning, I met a dinosaur named Yugi Vaan George the 3rd. We played all of the same things I had played with Fred. I missed him. I would try and find him if I knew where he slept.
While we were looking at the other toys, we saw a bunch of Freds. They looked exactly like him. I could not tell the difference between them except for I knew about the secret birthmark on Fred’s forehead. When Fred was made, he got scratched in the factory and it left a white mark.
I looked around until I found him talking with two of his twins. As I walked up to him, he spotted me and excused himself from the conversation. He instantly asked me about the dinosaur I was with. “Who is he?” Fred inquired.
“Yugi Vaan George the 3rd,” Yugi said proudly.
“Boogee Von George?” Fred asked confusingly.
I said that Yugi had said his name was Yugi Vaan George the 3rd.
“Can I call you Yugi?”
“Of course,” Yugi replied. We decided to all sleep on the same shelf to prevent from losing each other. That did not mean we would stop playing, though. The day was not nearly over yet. We darted here and there playing with different toys every ten seconds. Yugi held the record for playing with a toy for the longest. He played a 10-minute symphony on the xylophone. Fred held the short record. He touched some goo and ran away immediately.
When we where the most exhausted toys in the toy store, we bought some snacks at the toy café. The café was actually the biggest Barbie mansion ever invented. We used it as a café anyway. I ordered a super burger. Fred ordered a small French fries. Yugi ordered a strawberry milkshake. “That will be $20,” the waiter said. We enjoyed our food silently. I broke the silence.
“So, what will we do after we get a good rest?”
Fred and Yugi both replied, “I don’t know”
I said that we should go to sleep and think about it in the morning when our thoughts weren’t cloudy. As we gathered on the shelf where we decided to sleep, I noticed how close we were to the café. We all agreed that this was the best place to stay. I do not know when I dozed off, but I think it was pretty quickly.
Fred and Yugi woke me up so we could play. Right before we could get off the shelf, a little girl passed by. We froze in positions as she inquired, “Mommy, can I get those toys?” Her mom walked up, looked at the prices and told the girl she could have one. This troubled her. The girl examined us for a long time and said, “I want the panda.”
As she took Fred, Yugi and me bode farewell to Fred as he was carried away. With Fred gone, I felt lonely. Yugi and me decided to find another toy to play with to keep us from being lonely. Our expedition lasted the whole day through. No toys seemed to want to play with us and others didn’t seem like they would fit in.
After we gave up and were heading home, we saw a lonely teddy bear. The bear looked like he had been through a lot, and he had bags under his eyes. We decided to cheer him up. Maybe we could even make friends. The bear told us he had been waiting at the store for over one year for someone to buy him. He was a whole one and a half years old and was named Frank. I was not even a week old yet. Yugi was 2 weeks old. Frank was far older than we but was still a young playful toy. He loved riding trains and playing cards. We had never obtained a deck of cards ourselves, so we were excited to play with him. First we decided to take him to the café and the shelf where we slept. At the restaurant, we ordered a super size bag of chips to share. We decided Frank would sleep in Fred’s bed.
After Frank explained to us how to play cards, we started to play. Frank, who had the most experience with the game, won. Yugi and I tied in 2nd place. We got the cards kind of greasy from our chips, but Frank did not seem to care. We helped him put the cards away neatly and went home.
As we retired for the day, I decided to get a part time job in the café. I worked enough to buy us all real beds. I enjoyed the bed so much, that I slept while Yugi and Frank got some breakfast. They ordered me a pancake, which I enjoyed. Together we made a fort made entirely of pillows and blankets. The fort stayed up until I forgot the ceiling wasn’t very high and I jumped. The fort collapsed on us. I declared that we should go adventure the furniture part of the store.
Frank said, “I have been to the furniture section before, and it was completely amazing!” In the furniture section, we climbed onto the biggest couch that could exist and jumped on a bed twice as big. If you aren’t amazed yet, we saw a bed so big that we had trouble climbing a quarter of the way up it.
Back at the department store, we got three climbing kits and sprinted to the huge bed. The short grappling hook only reached half way up the bed. The long hook was a few inches from the top, and we decided to live with that. At the top of the bed, we could see almost the whole store. We saw at least 100 people. We found snacks in our kits. I traded my granola bar with Yugi for his goldfish. Frank traded his candy bar for mine. Soon we traded so much we wondered who started out with what. We enjoyed the snacks and the view.
When we got home, we went to sleep. I woke up from the noise of a little girl’s voice. I thought I recognized the voice. It sounded like the girl who bought Fred. The girl asked her mom if she could buy us. Her mother agreed and bought us all. I was so excited that I thought I could scream. When the girl got home, she played with us. We saw Fred and he told us of his adventures. We told Fred about Frank. I had an owner named Samantha and three fun friends. Samantha slept with us every night and we all lived happily ever after.
